CRNE (Canadian Registered Nurse Examination) ensures that registered nurses who apply for registration as nurse practitioner in Canada meet an acceptable level of competence before they begin to practice. Each provincial and territorial nursing regulatory authority in Canada is directly responsible for validating the level of competence before they begin to practice.

The level of competence of nurse practitioners working in a family or all ges environment is measured in part by the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Examination.


DHA (Dubai Health Authority)Healthcare professionals applying for licensure are required to pass DHA assessment in order to acquire professional license and practice in the Emirate of Dubai. The DHA assessment can be either computer based or oral depending on the health professional’s category.

DHA Dubai issues professional license for Health care nursing professionals who come under the following categories:

• Registered Nurse • Registered Midwife • Assistant Nurse

Two years or more of experience in the related field is a mandatory requirement for all candidates who wish to register. The DHA conduct computer based assessments in collaboration with Prometric testing and Assessment Company. To book the DHA Computer Based assessment, the applicant needs to submit an online licensure application through "Sheryan" E-Licensing System to the Health Regulation Department (HRD). After completing the credentialing process by the HRD team, the applicant will be issued a DHA assessment Eligibility Number which is required to complete the online application, book test date and select location of the test centre.


OET is the typical English language test designed particularly for the health sector. Both the health care professionals and healthcare organizations choose OET as it helps them prove they have the right level of English for employment or study in healthcare and also for visa purposes.

OET results are accepted as proof of English language skills by regulatory healthcare boards and councils in Australia, UK, Ireland New Zealand and Dubai. It has been developed specifically for 12 healthcare professions. Test simulate real work place tasks and test relevant language skills for each profession.


NCLEX-RN :(National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) is a standardised exam used by each state board of nursing council in the United States of America to determine whether a candidate is eligible for entry-level nursing practice in the State. NCLEX-RN is regulated by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN ). The examination assesses the knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential for the nurse to use in order to meet the needs of clients requiring the promotion, maintenance or restoration of health.

To ensure public protection, each jurisdiction requires candidates for licensure to pass an examination that measures the competencies needed to perform safely and effectively as a newly licensed, entry-level registered nurse.

GAHS, Prometrics

In order to ensure a better employment status in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Muscat, Prometric exam is a pre-requisite. Most of the countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia Muscat are conducting the Prometric exams for licensing their medical professionals.

The Prometric Examination for Nurses is composed of 70 questions in multiple choice formats. In about two hours, the candidate is required to finish the whole test set.


CBT ( Computer Based Test) the forms part one of the Test of Competence which makes a person eligible to apply for registration with NMC as a nurse or midwife. This is a computer based test of both theoretical and practice-based knowledge. The CBT comprises 120 multiple-choice questions and can be taken at a Pearson VUE test centre available in most countries around the world and the candidate needs to contact them to book and pay for their test.

OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) forms part 2 of the test of competence. This is typically a practical nursing or midwifery examination. The OSCE is a simulation of both clinical environment and patient scenarios which nurses and midwives are expected to encounter on a day to day basis while discharging duties. The OSCE can only be sat after successfully passing the CBT and is only available in the UK at a designated test centre.


MOH (Ministry of Health) which is the Ministry of Health and passing the MOH would mean that the candidates are permitted to work in 5 emirates except Dubai or Abu Dhabi. All the health professionals who aspire to find your career in UAE must clear the MOH examination and be professionally qualified to officially begin your work in the UAE.

There are 3 different Health Ministries operating in the UAE;

DHA - Dubai Health Authority

DHA registration is a mandatory requirement for working in Dubai.

GAH - General Authority of Health Exam or usually know as MOH /Abu Dhabi.


HAAD (The Health Authority – Abu Dhabi) is the regulative body of the Healthcare Sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensures strict adherence to safe healthcare practices and delivery of excellent services for the community by closely monitoring the health status of the population. Nurses preparing to work in Abu Dhabi are to clear HAAD before they join the register.

HAAD envisages, defines, monitors and analyses all strategic planning for the health care system, always keeping in check the total performance of the system. Further, HAAD shapes the regulatory framework for the health system, inspects against regulations, enforce standards, and encourages adoption of world – class best practices and performance targets by all healthcare service providers in the Emirate.

HAAD also drives programs to increase awareness and adoption of healthy living standards among the residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in addition to regulating scope of services, premiums and reimbursement rates of the health system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
