Test Requirements
There are five English language tests accepted for student visa applications in Australia: Candidates applying for a study visa should prove his/her proficiency over language by taking up any one of the following English language tests.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Overall score of 6.0 to 6.5 (no band less than 5.5 to 6.0)
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test (paper-based test is accepted from limited countries)- Overall score of 60 to 90
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) — Overall score of 169 to 176 (no less than 169 in any category)
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic -- Overall score of 50 to 64
Occupational English Test (OET). Minimum of B band is expected for all modules though it varies from institution to institution
Applicant’s required level of English language proficiency will vary depending on the desired institution and level of study chosen and one’s country of citizenship
