Why Study in Ireland ?

Irish Education System
The Irish education system is made up of primary, second, third-level and further education. Third level education envelops different sectors such as the university sector, the technological sector and the colleges of education which are substantially funded by the State. In addition there are a number of independent private colleges. There are universities which are autonomous and self-governing. They offer degree programmes at bachelor, masters and doctorate level. The technological sector includes institutes of technology which provide programmes of education and training in a wide range of areas such as business, science, engineering, linguistics and music to certificate, diploma and degree levels. The Department of Education and Skills has overall responsibility for the sector.
Average Cost for Education & Living
The cost of study will vary according to where one decides to study in Ireland. However, on average , a student will spend between €7,000 to €12,000 per year as tuition fees.
Undergraduate courses 9,000 – 45,000 EUR/year.
Postgraduate Master and PhD courses: 9,150 to 37,000 EUR/year.
Test Requirements
International students seeking admissions to Irish universities and colleges, whose first language is not English, will have to prove their level of command of the English. Applicants will have to take any of the following IELTS, TOEFL, PTE tests. For international students the minimum English language requirement for entry to different programmes vary according to the level of programme chosen.
International English Language System(IELTS)
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 600 (TOEFL- PBT (paper-based Test), with Test of Written English at 475
TOEFL (iBT) minimum of 90 with atleast 20 in each section
Pearson Test of English - Academic (PTE)- Minimum 63 and no section less than 59
An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version Various Levels
Level 6 would require IELTS score of 5.5 on the academic version (or equivalent)
Level 7 would need IELTS score 6.0 (or equivalent)
Level 8 - IELTS score 6.0 (or equivalent)
Level 9 programmes require an overall IELTS band of 6.5 and not less than 6 in individual modules(or equivalent)
Make sure that the candidates check the individual programme requirements for any specific variance in entry requirements
Cost of Living
Precisely how much a sudent will need for his living in Ireland depends on what part of the country one lives in, the kind of accommodation one chooses and more importantly one's own personal life style. But, on average, a student would spend between Euro 450 to 600 Euro.
Work Rights & Stay Back
International students engaged in full time study of atleast one year duration do not need a work permit to work in Ireland. During the months of June, July, August and September and from 15th December to 15th January inclusive, students are permitted to work 40 hours per week. At all other times students holding Immigration permission Stamp 2 will be limited to working 20 hours per week.
International students completing advanced degrees ( Level 9 or above) in Ireland can stay up to 24 months in order to seek employment and/or apply for a further work permit or green card.This new provision applies to students completing masters or doctoral qualifications granted by a recognised Irish awarding body.
Students completing Level 8 programmes (honours undergraduate degrees) will have a 12-month stay back option, whereas those completing a Level 7 qualification (ordinary undergraduate degree) will also remain eligible for a six-month stay back.
